“Neurodiversity is already in our consulting rooms, training groups, coaching practices and organizations.” Expanding on this reality, the new article by Nea Clark challenges transactional analysis (TA) practitioners to broaden their traditional trauma-informed perspectives. The piece introduces an emerging framework designed to shift the professional focus toward understanding a client`s neurodevelopmental capacity rather than solely searching for underlying psychological script issues.
Outlining the concept of Neuro-informed Transactional Analysis (NiTA), Clark argues that behaviors frequently interpreted as psychological resistance may actually be the result of a depleted nervous system. The author states that by embracing three core principles — curiosity, context and coping — professionals can better support neurodivergent individuals without misinterpreting sensory overload or executive functioning struggles as defensive reactions.
This proposed methodology does not replace foundational theories but instead offers a vital, capacity-centered starting point for effective therapeutic, educational and organizational work.

“Read together, they invite our field into territory it has long approached with caution, and they do so with warmth, courage, and care.” In a new article by A. Sari van Poelje, this praise is directed at two papers by Edward T. Novak, who recently received the 2026 Eric Berne Memorial Award (EBMA). The publications constitute a major theoretical and practical advance to Transactional Analysis (TA), effectively extending the methodology from a psychology of two minds to a psychology of two bodies.
The honored works, "Secret Garden Work" and "A Model of Informed Physical Contact in Psychotherapy," carefully build upon foundational TA materials such as contracting, script and ego states. According to the author, Novak provides a teachable map for integrating physical contact into practice by offering four distinct categories of touch that range from brief social contact to sustained, body-psychotherapy-informed work. This approach establishes a structured, ethical framework for engaging the physical self with transparency and consent, allowing therapists to help clients compare past trauma with present safety.
By drawing a careful line between unconscious enactment and informed contact, this contribution restores the moral agency of the therapist and helps the field process its historical wounds around the body. As the article`s author states, the EBMA committee ultimately celebrates a contribution that returns the living body to the heart of clinical practice, providing practitioners with a language that is precise and deeply humane.

“A physical return home does not yet mean a psychological return.” This profound observation frames a vital discussion on how early clinical attempts to understand the post-combat experience remain highly relevant today. The text examines 1945 archival materials detailing psychiatric work with military veterans, proving that these historical insights speak with remarkable precision to our modern era.
In a compelling new article, Hanna Yavorska reflects on Eric Berne’s wartime texts, which reveal the ethical and humanistic origins of Transactional Analysis (TA). The author observes that Berne treated returning soldiers with profound respect rather than pathologization, offering a model of care that relies on time, safety and a humane environment instead of hasty normalization.
According to Yavorska, these foundational principles transcend distant history and directly address the everyday reality of a society experiencing a full-scale war, such as her native Ukraine. By prioritizing human dignity over an isolated symptom, she emphasizes that trauma must be met with patience and comprehensive psychosocial support.

It is with great sadness that we learn of the death of Rosa Krausz, one of the pioneering figures in organizational transactional analysis.
A teaching and supervising transactional analyst, consultant, coach and educator, Krausz made an enduring contribution to the field through her groundbreaking work on organizational scripts, leadership, power, coaching and group dynamics.
Her writings helped generations of practitioners understand how transactional analysis can illuminate the complex life of organizations. Krausz received the Eric Berne Memorial Award in 2012, and her influence extended far beyond her native Brazil to the international transactional analysis community. She leaves a rich professional legacy and will be remembered with gratitude and respect.
On a personal note, I found Krausz’s article, "Organizational Scripts," to be particularly helpful in my work in organizations. It gave me a way to identify the deeper patterns running through an organization and helped leaders reflect more honestly on the culture they have inherited, created and want to change.

"Ultimately, Berne is one of the authors who best enables the integration of Freud`s ego into modern psychotherapy, presenting a powerful opportunity for anyone willing to seize it." Expanding on this dynamic premise, the new article by Manuel Luciani examines how Eric Berne secured the legacy of the classical psychoanalytic ego.
According to the author, the foundational principles of Transactional Analysis (TA) offer a comprehensive framework for understanding human developmental stages and the unconscious mind. Luciani outlines how TA differs from classical psychoanalysis in its methodology, yet maintains deep theoretical ties to Sigmund Freud to innovate psychological practices for contemporary clinical use.
Stressing that the Child ego state remains the most valuable part of the personality, the Italian psychotherapist highlights the versatility of this theory for both adaptive and transformative mental health care.

"Don’t say anything you can’t diagram." This was the rigorous standard set by Eric Berne during his advanced theory-making sessions in San Francisco. While building an evidence-based science of human behavior in the 1960s, Berne demanded that every concept be shaved down to its core and put in layman`s language to ensure measurable progress.
Highlighting these historical insights, the new piece by authors Pamela Levin and Vinícius Sgarbe offers a rare glimpse into the formative years of transactional analysis (TA). The interviewing duo captures Stephen Karpman`s vivid memories of Berne’s legendary Tuesday night meetings, where strict scientific parsimony surprisingly gave way to vibrant, bohemian social gatherings.
This exclusive retrospective serves as a captivating time capsule of an innovative era, detailing how a tight-knit group of pioneers shaped the field`s foundation.

“Look, I’m running a psychotherapy store. You’re coming here to buy something, so you have to tell me what it is you want.” This memorable directive from Dr. Eric Berne highlights the pragmatic, surprisingly direct approach he brought to foundational transactional analysis (TA).
In the illuminating new article by author Pamela Levin, therapist Carol Solomon shares vivid recollections of her early years working with Berne in Carmel, California. Through rigorous questioning, Levin explores Solomon`s monumental dedication to preserving Berne`s personal and professional legacy within the archives at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Library.
This essential conversation provides a rare and humanizing window into the man behind the theory. It also serves as a clinical reminder that delivering simple, universally understood interventions keeps the heart and soul of TA accessible and vibrant for a new generation of practitioners.

This Saturday, May 30, the board of directors of the International Transactional Analysis Association concludes the last of four strategic meetings initiated two weeks ago.
While this photograph does not capture the entirety of the participants—given the fluctuating attendance driven primarily by time zone constraints and the presence of ad hoc contributors—it serves as a tribute to all attendees and a demonstration of accountability to the broader membership.
A multitude of pivotal decisions have been made since the ITAA transitioned into a professional association. Over the coming years, a robust strategy is expected to maintain focus on the projects that ensure institutional cohesion.
