A wave of deceptive correspondence has recently targeted the ITAA community, employing a technique known as digital masking. Perpetrators are impersonating trusted leadership to solicit funds or sensitive data, exploiting publicly available information rather than breaching internal security systems. This sophisticated form of spoofing mirrors a handwritten letter in a falsely labeled envelope, designed solely to manipulate trust without actual hacking.
Defense against these incursions requires vigilance regarding the sender’s technical details rather than the display name. Scammers often fabricate urgency—demanding immediate financial transfers or gift cards—while utilizing obscure email domains that differ from official channels. Verification through secondary communication lines, such as a direct phone call or text, remains the most effective method to authenticate any suspicious request.
The protocol for handling these anomalies is straightforward: do not engage, do not click embedded links, and delete the message immediately. Silence serves as the primary deterrent against these actors. While security measures are being reinforced, the collective skepticism and informed caution of the membership base constitute the organization`s strongest firewall.

“Ethics often confronts us with tensions between competing duties, where every available course of action violates some core principle.” In a new article, International Transactional Analysis Association (ITAA) President Marguerite Sacco uses this statement to frame a profound dilemma: Should the organization comment on global atrocities and political crises?
According to the author, speaking out aligns with the value to resist oppression, but it also risks alienating members with differing views on complex conflicts. Sacco explains that remaining silent can feel like tacit acceptance, yet issuing general condemnations of violence can seem shallow and morally inadequate.
This is not a dilemma for the board to solve alone. The article’s author has issued a direct call to the community for guidance on how the ITAA can navigate this ethical challenge transparently and with integrity. Read her full analysis and share your perspective on a way forward.

“It often begins with a pause.” These moments of hesitation—a flinch, a tight jaw, a shrinking in the chair—are not idiosyncratic. They are the body telling the story of a wider cultural script that organizes who is allowed to feel, who must endure and who is permitted to hold power.
According to authors Jazz Rehal and Laura McCarthy, such gendered trauma is the imprint of cultural norms on safety and power. Using a Transactional Analysis (TA) framework, they argue that when therapy focuses on communication without analyzing power, fear and control, it risks colluding with harm.
The article by Rehal and McCarthy introduces a new Feminist Liberation Model to make these patriarchal dynamics visible. This model presents concepts like the Political Parent and the Liberation Triangle as therapeutic tools to challenge scripts that normalize domination and create the conditions for genuine safety and self-advocacy.

“It has taken me a while to compose my thoughts (and feelings) about Robin Fryer’s departure as editor of The Script.” So begins a heartfelt tribute to a community pillar who is stepping down after 50 years of dedicated service, a leader who has lived and knows the history of our association better than almost anyone.
In this new article, William Cornell reflects on his creative partnership with Fryer, whom he describes as the “force and spirit that has infused The Script with its vitality.” He explains how she was immersed in the written and social aspects of the transactional analysis (TA) community, fostering a unique sense of belonging within the International Transactional Analysis Association (ITAA).
According to the author, Fryer’s quiet, persistent efforts have not only built community but have also profoundly enhanced the quality of TA literature over the decades. Read the full piece to discover the legacy of an editor with an extraordinary, dedicated skill for bringing authors’ unique voices into the foreground.

“The only constant in life is change.” This is often followed by a common but unrecognized experience: grief. Life continuously asks us to let go of people, routines and familiar ways of being. Even positive shifts can bring a sense of loss because any change reshapes our inner world.
In a new article, author Sasha Mkhitaryan examines the neuroscience of this process, where changes in time, place and attachment are deeply interconnected. According to the author, grief can be understood as a form of learning, a concept clarified by the Dual Process Model and frameworks such as Transactional Analysis (TA).
Understanding grief as an everyday response to change allows us to see that we do not have to choose between appreciation and sadness; they can coexist. This perspective turns everyday grief into a meaningful process through which we learn, integrate change and grow.

"The Ukrainian Association for Transactional Analysis (UATA) stands not merely as a survivor of conflict but as a pioneer in organizational resilience." Since the full-scale war began, the UATA has transformed from an organization in crisis into a beacon of adaptability, offering critical lessons for the global Transactional Analysis (TA) community on how to function and thrive amidst catastrophe.
In a new article, authors Hanna Yavorska, Serhii Mordiushenko and Viktoriia Starchenko detail how UATA applied TA principles to its governance to maintain operations and support its members. The organization established daily debriefings, maintained its annual traditions online and even launched an initiative to treat Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
The authors state that UATA’s journey is also a call for dialogue, urging the international community to engage on matters of ethical responsibility rather than avoid difficult conversations. Believing its localized innovations have global relevance, UATA has extended an invitation to share its hard-won experience in crisis management.

The submission window for the upcoming March edition of The Script is rapidly closing, with the final deadline set for February 28. Contributors are reminded that there is exclusively one channel for submissions: all materials must be directed to editorial@thescript.digital. This centralized protocol has been the standard since last year to ensure efficient processing of all articles.
When submitting, authors must ensure that any accompanying imagery is attached as standalone files within the same email, rather than embedded directly into the text document. It is also crucial for contributors to maintain active correspondence; the editorial process is interactive, and authors should monitor their inboxes closely until they see their work published.
The editorial team has expressed immense gratitude for the surge in contributions, noting the international community`s strong desire to participate in this vital publication. Following the release of the recent "collector`s item" edition, expectations for the March issue are high, making strict adherence to the deadline essential.

“The river never ceases in its flow — yet not a single drop remains the same.” In the new article by Keiko Hoshino, this ancient Japanese reflection serves as a powerful metaphor for the interplay of continuity and change. The piece explores how, as professionals, we must embrace evolution to protect the enduring values at the heart of our work.
According to the author, this concept is vital for practitioners of Transactional Analysis (TA). The article delves into the ethical responsibility of planning for the future, highlighting the updates to the International Transactional Analysis Association (ITAA) Ethics Manual and introducing the idea of a “Professional Will” to ensure continuity of care.
The article’s author states that creating a Professional Will is more than an administrative task; it is an expression of Respect and Protection. Hoshino’s work ultimately asks us to reflect on a critical question: How will you change so that what matters most can continue to thrive?

In a recent article by Marina Rajan Joseph, she details the success of the International Board of Certification’s (IBOC) second online Training Endorsement Workshop (TEW) of 2025. Held from Nov. 28-30, the event gathered 16 participants and three translators from India, Russia, the United Kingdom, Croatia and Kenya for an enriching experience.
Following the event, 16 individuals are now prepared to sign a Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst (TSTA) contract. This will enable them to train and supervise future generations of learners in the theory and practice of Transactional Analysis (TA), strengthening our global community of practitioners.
In response to a growing number of Certified Transactional Analysts (CTA) on waiting lists, the IBOC has scheduled an additional TEW for July 2026. With three more workshops planned for the upcoming year, we hope to advance the mission of our organization with a brilliant array of vibrant TA trainers and supervisors.

Most definitions of the “inner child” describe parts of the self that hold emotions but exclude the physical dimension. Author Pamela Levin writes that this is a crucial omission, as childhood is when the body develops the complex interplay of systems that sustain life.
These early experiences create a collection of operating instructions that govern automatic functions. When established under adverse circumstances, these internalized scripts can misdirect the body’s innate intelligence and contribute to conditions ranging from migraines to autoimmune issues.
Levin posits that this “soft wiring” remains malleable. By healing the inner child, individuals can rewrite the bodily instructions that cause health challenges, allowing Transactional Analysis to address physical symptoms alongside emotional changes.
