Welcome to our Global Foundation

The International Transactional Analysis Association Foundation is a nonprofit, organisation and is the charitable arm of The International Transactional Analysis Association (ITAA) founded in 1964 by psychiatrist Dr. Eric Berne who created the theory of transactional analysis.

The foundation’s purpose is to help advance the theory, methods and principles of transactional analysis. It does this through the promotion of research and innovation in TA, publishing a peer-reviewed journal, sponsoring podcasts, organising webinars and international conferences, granting scholarships and bestowing awards.

The foundation is aligned to ITAA’s vision, mission and values which you can see here. If you would like to donate or contribute to the foundation, you can do so by clicking here.

Research & Innovation

TA theory and practice are continuously evolving and more recent transactional analysis theorists have developed different and overlapping theories of transactional analysis: cognitive behavioural, systemic, process communication, relational, integrative, humanist, constructivist, narrative, body-work, developmental, co-created and constructivist. With this, research has been a key aspect of the development of TA theory and practice and we seek to encourage, facilitate and foster this.
